About Us
About Thriving Epilepsy Awareness
We believe that an epilepsy diagnosis should never define a person’s future.
Who we are
Thriving Epilepsy Awareness (TEA) is committed to supporting people living with epilepsy through awareness, medical support, inclusion and community empowerment.
Whether someone is diagnosed in childhood or adulthood, or lives with a genetic form of epilepsy, they deserve the opportunity to pursue their dreams, participate fully in society and live a fulfilling life.
Our mission
To improve the lives of people living with epilepsy through awareness, access to medical support, education, inclusion and community empowerment.
Our vision
A society where people living with epilepsy are understood, supported and empowered to thrive without stigma or discrimination.
Our main goal
To provide accessible, reliable and compassionate support that helps people living with epilepsy manage their condition, access appropriate healthcare and live with dignity and confidence.
Our long-term goals
- Expand access to epilepsy medicines, neurological care and diagnostic services, including EEG support.
- Promote epilepsy awareness and seizure first-aid education in schools, workplaces and communities.
- Establish sustainable support programmes for people living with epilepsy, parents and caregivers.
- Encourage inclusive communities and workplaces that respect people with invisible disabilities.
- Develop a sustainable digital support platform connecting people to information, healthcare and ongoing care reminders.
- Expand our reach from Trans-Nzoia County to other parts of Kenya.
Our values
Dignity
Every person deserves respect, free from shame, stigma or discrimination.
Accuracy
We share information that is reviewed, and we are honest about what we can and cannot do.
Inclusion
We work with families, schools, health workers and communities, so no one is left out.
Transparency
We report honestly on our work and how support is used, and we protect people’s privacy.
Our story: starting in Trans-Nzoia
Trans-Nzoia County — from Kitale town to the slopes of Mount Elgon — is where we begin. Distance to diagnostic services, myths about seizures and limited specialist care can all delay help for families.
We are starting with practical tools: clear information in English and Kiswahili, help finding care, reminders, encouragement and community education. We will expand to other parts of Kenya as verified data and resources allow.
Governance and transparency
- TEA is an awareness, information and navigation organisation. We do not diagnose, prescribe or provide emergency care.
- Medical content on this website is to be reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals.
- We publish only approved and accurate registration and organisational details. Registration details will be added here once confirmed.
- We publish no made-up figures. See Impact & Transparency for verified updates.
