Reminders

Medication and clinic reminders

Register your medicine times and clinic appointments, and choose to get reminders by SMS, WhatsApp or both.

How reminders work

ReminderWhen you get a message
Medication 10 minutes before your medicine time, and again at the time

Example: medicine at 9:00 p.m. → messages at 8:50 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Clinic appointment One week before and one day before the appointment (at 9:00 a.m.)

Example: appointment on 20 November → messages on 13 November and 19 November.

All times are East Africa Time (EAT). Kenya does not change its clocks, so your reminders stay at the same time all year.

Please read before you sign up

  • Reminders are a convenience. They are not a medical safety system. Messages can be delayed or fail — please don’t rely on them as your only reminder.
  • Messages are short and neutral, such as “Time for your medicine”, so they don’t reveal your health on a shared phone. Your own label is only added if you choose.
  • Messages never contain dosing advice or advice about missed doses. For those questions, speak to a clinician or pharmacist.
  • Delivery depends on your consent and on the SMS/WhatsApp service being available.
  • Reply STOP at any time to stop all messages immediately.

What we collect

Only your phone number, your reminder times or dates, your channel choice, and an optional label. We don’t ask for your name, diagnosis or ID number. You can delete everything at any time. See the privacy notice for how long we keep data.

Please don’t send detailed medical history, ID numbers or photos of children by WhatsApp. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and your messages and number will be handled under WhatsApp’s terms as well as TEA’s privacy notice.

WhatsApp is a way to contact the TEA team during working hours. It is not a 24/7 helpline or emergency service. Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (EAT). We aim to reply within one working day.

Emergency? If a seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, or the person is badly hurt or has trouble breathing, call 999 or 112 now.
